How do you know if someone unfollowed you on Instagram?
The short answer
Instagram won't tell you directly, so you find out by comparing your follower list now against an earlier snapshot — whoever's missing unfollowed you. Doing this by hand is tedious, so most people use a follow tracker that saves your list and highlights exactly who left. Trackers like Lurk do the comparison automatically, without needing your Instagram password.
The manual method works but is painful: screenshot or note your followers, then diff them against a later list. On any account with more than a few hundred followers this is impractical by hand.
A tracker removes the effort. It stores each snapshot and, on the next check, shows you a clean list of accounts that disappeared — the people who unfollowed — plus who newly followed you.
The safety line is the password: legitimate trackers work from public data and never ask you to log in with your Instagram credentials.
What's the fastest way to check for unfollowers?
A follow tracker that snapshots your followers and shows the difference on each refresh — far faster than comparing lists by hand.
Can I tell who unfollowed me without an app?
Only by manually comparing an old follower list to the current one. There's no built-in Instagram feature that shows it.
