The verdict
Both Lurk and Katch let you anonymously track Instagram follows without an Instagram login. They overlap on the basics. The differences live in distribution, native-app reach, and the economics of the trial.
A real iPhone app, not a dead App Store link
Lurk ships a native iPhone app and sits on your Android home screen with push alerts. Katch is a web app plus an Android app, with no iPhone app on the App Store and alerts they admit can arrive with a delay.
Push notifications anywhere
Lurk pushes alerts to your phone the second a tracked profile follows someone new, even when the app is closed. Web-only competitors lose you the moment you close the tab.
Try the full product for $1
Lurk's first week is $1, the full feature set, not a watered-down trial. Katch has no trial on web, just $3.99 a week behind a flash-sale countdown that restarts every visit. Predictable beats a countdown.
Unlimited profiles
Track as many public Instagram accounts as you want. No artificial cap.
AES-256 encrypted
Lurk publicly states its encryption standard. Most competitors stay quiet about this, silence on security is a choice.
