Can you see who someone recently followed on Instagram?

The short answer

You can open any public account's Following list, but Instagram never labels those follows with a date or shows them newest-first — so the list alone won't tell you who they recently added. To actually see recent follows, you compare snapshots of the list over time and surface what's new. A tracker like Lurk does this automatically, no login required.

Instagram deliberately hides follow timestamps. Even on a public account, tapping "Following" gives you an unordered, algorithm-influenced list — not a dated activity log — so scrolling it tells you who they follow, never when they followed them.

The only reliable method is differencing: record the following list now, check it again later, and the accounts that appear in the second snapshot but not the first are the recent follows. This is exactly what a follow tracker automates.

This works only for public accounts. If the profile is private, its following list is hidden from anyone it hasn't approved, and no legitimate tool can reveal it.

More on this

Does Instagram have a page that shows recent follows?

No. Instagram offers no native "recent follows" view for yourself or anyone else. You can only see the full, undated Following list.

Can you see recent follows without an account?

Yes, for public profiles — a tracker reads the already-public following list without you logging in or following the person.

Will they know I checked who they followed?

No. Viewing a public following list is invisible; the account owner gets no notification and you never appear in their followers.
